Way back in 1965, a young hair stylist by the name of Horst Rechelbacher launched his own hair care line in Minneapolis, MN, which he called Horst. It was a grass roots effort that eventually paid off in spades for Mr. Rechelbacher. He renamed his company Aveda Corporation, sold it to Estee Lauder in the ‘90’s and “retired” to a farm he purchased in Wisconsin. For fifteen years, he devoted his time to exploring the potential for organic ingredients to provide everything we need for healthy skin and hair while maintaining the highest level of integrity and environmental stewardship.
 
At the base of nearly every product is his patented Intellimune Seed Oil Complex – an anti-aging, antioxidant-saturated synergistic blend of black cumin, pumpkin, red grape, red raspberry and cranberry seed oil.
