Way back in 1965, a young hair stylist by the name of Horst Rechelbacher launched his own hair care line in Minneapolis, MN, which he called Horst. My own Minneapolis hair stylist, who has also been in the business since the 1960’s, told me that back then Horst was going salon door to salon door asking stylists if they would give his products a try. It was a grass roots effort that eventually paid off in spades for Mr. Rechelbacher. He eventually renamed his company Aveda Corporation, sold it to Estee Lauder in the ‘90’s and “retired” to a farm he purchased in Wisconsin.

From his early days in the business, Horst was dedicated to finding ways to use plant-based ingredients to enhance personal health and wellbeing. After selling Aveda, he devoted his time to growing and researching the plants on his organic farm, with the goal of taking the personal care movement to the next level of healthy. With the assistance of the top food scientists in the country, Horst realized the latest dream in the form of Intelligent Nutrients™. Each product is a marriage of Mr. Rechelbacher’s insistence on nothing but food-grade quality ingredients and his exceptionally high performance standards.

At the base of nearly every product is his patented Intellimune Seed Oil Complex – an anti-aging, antioxidant-saturated synergistic blend of black cumin, pumpkin, red grape, red raspberry and cranberry seed oil. As a result, not only is his line of organic hair care the safest on the market – with every product receiving USDA and/or the Soil Association certification – they actually enhance your health.

You read everything in that last section, right? So let’s summarize: natural, organic, healthy, top-performing, made by Horst Rechelbacher. Sure sounded like a no-brainer to us! We’ve also had the good fortune to attend product training given by Mr. Rechelbacher himself, and have tried all of the products on ourselves, our partners and our children. Whether it was the treatment oil for weekly hair repair, the finishing gloss for my Ethiopian-born toddler with highly textured locks, or the leave-in detangler for the entire family, every single product was a perfect 10. And don’t even get me started on the hair spray! Oh, the hair spray!
